These snaps pretty well cover the roads visited at the Rochester Road meet.
Doug Kerr was the driver on this go round.
The New O'Rourke Bridge and the Stutson Bridge.
These bridges cross the Gennessee River in Rochester.
The O'Rourke Bridge is a replacement for the Stutson Bridge,
which will be taken down.
The Latta Road junction on NY 390.
The next to the last junction on this road.
A nice shot of the Stuston Ave Bridge draw span.
The west drawspan signal on the Stutson Bridge.
The combination Speed Limit sign is unusual in NY.
Looking at the O'Rourke Bridge from the south.
Doug Kerr tries to avoid getting squished crossing the Stutson Ave Bridge.
Looking at the O'Rourke Bridge from the north.
A sign salad for boaters at the O'Rourke Briddge.
Odd that the speed limit is “6”mph: usually it's 5-
it may be because it's approximately 10 km/h.
So our Canadian friends have it a bit easier.
The old and the new.
A span from an old railway bridge over the Genessee River,
and at the immediate left: The Breeze, a fast ferry to Toronto.
Chris Jordan and Adam Froehlig(Froggie) protect the new O'Rourke bridge
from the likes of me....
Sine salad at the junction of Lake Avenue with the RM parkway.
You'll make a right to cross the O'Rourke Bridge.
Note the contrast betwween the new-retro mast arm and the standard Rochester Mast arms.
Looking east across the Stutson Ave Bridge.
Leaving the Stutson Street bridge and heading east.
New retro mast arm at Thomas Avenue near the east end of the O'Rourke bridge.
The Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge.
(If this is an “outlet”, then where are the stores?)
This bridge is unique in that it is open only during the winter.
In summer it is left open to permit boats to pass freely.
“You can't get there from here”
Unless you brought your swim fins.

The ice is REALLY thin in July.

A bit of an odd place to find a road sign...
Freeway Fun In Rochester
A Quick Spin around Rochester's Freeway System(mostly)
Southbound on NY 590.
This is just past the start of the highway.
NY 590 at the Durand Boulevard signal.
This is a rare use of 3M PV signals and a mast arm install.
NY 590 at the Titus Avenue signal.
A more standard signal installation.
NY 590 heading towards NY 104.
This is just north of the start of the freeway.
Southbound at the NY 590 and NY 104 freeway junction.
A kinda ratty section of the NY 590 freeway south of NY 104.
NY 590 at JN 8.
Another one of those left-justified highway signs.
NY 590 at JN 6.
You can see the diagrammatic JN 5 sign in the background.
NY 590 also uses Texas-Style plates on it's gore signs(see inset).
Just to goes to show that if you drive around NY long enough,
you'll find nearly anything.
IH 590 at JN 5.
The “Can of Worms”.
A noble attempt by NYSDOT to shoehorn a freeway junction in a tight space.
IH 490 at JN 16.
Pretty much how the freeway looks east of JN 15.
IH 490 at JN 15.
The concrete bridges are unique.
The Inner Loop joins IH 490 at JN 15.
The Inner Loop Freeway leaving the IH 490 westbound.
On the Rochester Inner Loop north half-Reference Route 940T.
The south half of this is the IH 490 between junctions 13-15.
You can see this is a nasty, tight little freeway deserving it's 40 mph limit.
There are proposals to turn this into a boulevard with level junctions.
A New/Retro bridge on the IH 490.
All bridges between JNS 10 and 13 are being rebuilt to look like this.
Westbound on the IH 490 at the IH/NY 390 Juncton.
The junction is fully directional, so you get left off and on-slips.
Tiny gantry sines westbound on the NY 240 Airport Expressway Spur.
Really, all this does is link the IH 490 to NY 33A.
You still have a ways to go to get to the terminal from here.
Eastbound(really north) IH 490 getting ready to turn onto the NY 531 freeway west.
NY 33 isn't a part of the freeway-
This is a junction incorporating a Y(NY 531) and a cloverleaf(NY 33) in close proximity.
Joining the NY 531 Freeway from the IH 490.
In the distance you can see how Region 4 uses
the “BEGIN” plates above Speed Limit 65 signs.
On NY 104 eastbound crossing NY 390.
The sine combination is unique,
note the signals hanging from the gantry.
My favorite NY Sine goes Hi-Teck.
This probably costs as much as a seperate turn signal,
and is less easily understood.
