Gothardstrasse in the Val Tremola(Switzerland).
The postcard is dated 25th July 1923;
and the sender describes this road as a “most delightful drive”.
Ok.
Going-to-the-Sun Highway in Glacier National Park

“The George Washington Bridge spans the Hudson connecting
181st street, Manhattan, with New Jersey.
It measures three thousand five hundred feet between towers,
which are themselves eighty feet taller than the Washington Monument"

This is looking east into NYC from NJ.
The person who sent the card spent the day shopping
and “went broke” buying a car and a coat.

“LAKE WASHINGTON FLOATING BRIDGE
World's longest bridge constructed of concrete pontoons
is an engineering marvel. Constructed and financed by tolls,
it is now free and carries US Highway No. 10 directly east from
Downtown Seattle and on through Snoqualmie Pass to the east”.
“Approach to Lake Champlain Bridge,
unites States of New York and Vermont”.
The roundabout at the foot of the bridge is gone.

“Famous bridge, touching New York and Penna. shores, Narrowsburg, NY”
Well, not anymore. The current bridge is on my Casey roadtrip page.
This photo is coming in from the west: Narrowsburg is to the left.
I think this was shot from a boat on the river.
“Greetings from Prattsville, NY”
Along NY 23 in Greene County near the Delaware Co. Line, no doubt.
Another area I have covered elsewhere on this site.

“SCENIC HIGHWAY U. S. 70 THRU MESCALERO APACHE INDIAN
RESERVATION, SIERRA BLANCA IN BACKGROUND,
WEST OF ROSWELL, N. M.

The drive from Almagordo to Ruidoso, N. M. then east to Roswell is one
filled with beautiful and varied scenery. The glimpse of snow-capped Sierra Blanca
thru Dark Canyon is especially interesting”.

“Julien Dubuque Bridge(US 20) and Mississippi River, Dubuque Iowa”.
Looking northeast.

Wayne and Shane were bowling out this way in 1961.
This card looks a bit older than that....

“Early fall in the scenic mountainous area, along the Pennsylvania Turnpike,
near Bedford, PA.”

I think we're looking eastbound down the grade east of the
Allegheny Mountain tunnel.
«Axenstrasse mit Bristenstock»
This is the Swiss highway that my Columbia River Highways site caps on:
There is a tunnel with three openings(The CRH tunnel *had* 5).
Not an awfully busy road, it looks like a pram or a handcart
is parked by the tunnel entrance,
and a person looking over the railing in the distance.

“Covered Bridge over the Housatonic River”

Be nice if they said where...
If anyone in the audience has seen this, please e-mail me.

«Sustenstrasse. Blick gegen Passhöhe»

Another Swiss mountain road.
The postcard commentary is interesting:
Switzerland is “..very clean in comparison to France and Italy.
However, every country is charming in it's own way.
” Uh, huh.
After this card was sent away, DeGualle was so put out that he
sent the entire country of France for cleaning. Twice.

Somes Sound and Sergeant's drive near Bar Harbor,
Mount Desert Island, Maine

Scene on Cadillac Mountain Road
Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, Maine.

“FAMOUS SUNSHINE SKYWAY TWIN SPAN
Sweep 15 miles across Tampa Bay—Short route between
St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Florida, showing main center
Twin Spans 150.5 feet above oceangoing Liner Channel.
Longest continuous structure over water in the world”.

Egdar decided to send this to Gilmore in Carmel, NY
(JN 19 off IH 84) and bust on him about snow in NY.
80° Every day down here”. Yr a peach, you are, Egdar.

“A Palm Shaded Ocean Drive in Florida
Many kinds of palms are to be found in Florida.
Among them the cabbage and date are most commonly seen.
The stately Royal Palm is more rare in height, beauty
and dignity it is unsurpassed”.

“U. S. 5, Windham Road Leading Into Brattleboro, Vt.
Mississippi River Scenic Highway, Burlington, Iowa

“Mushroom Rock
along the Columbia River. This famous Rock is
located near Shepperd's Dell and takes it's
name from it's resemblance to a mushroom”

Snappy description, that, eh?

No clue where this may be. Obviously down south, maybe FL.
The sign in the corner says
“Private grounds for use of — People Only”
I think it's “White”, but I can't quite make it out.
“Tunnel and the Chimney Tops, Newfound Gap Highway,
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Another “No clue” entry here.
There's nothing on the postcard at all.
Nice bridge, tho.
“Oswego River and East River Road, Oswego NY”
This may be NY 481 or Oswego Co Hwy 57.
This is a very old card-The postmark is 6th August 1907
“Smuggler's Notch in the Green Mountains”
This is on VT 108 near Mount Mansfield.
THE MOHAWK TRAIL THROUGH THE BERKSHIRE HILLS
Built at a cost of $368 000 an was formally named on Oct, 27 1914.
The road forms the connecting link of the State highway from
Boston to New York and the West and opens to automobilists
a section of the beautiful parts of Berkshire Hills,
Which were up to this time, inaccessible on account of the heavy grades.”
“A big turn of the Mohawk Trail”
“Mohawk Trail”
“East Side Mohawk Trail”

“Lincoln Highway, East of Harrisonville, PA Looking West”

That single rail wood guide rail was decertified by FHWA.

According to Scott O. Kuznicki(who is a PROFESSIONAL, don’t try this at home kids)
It looks to be A WSW view of this junction(he’s right).
Plus his correction post was amusing. Always a plus.
Compare to this Terrasever View from 2000.
Not rilly old school, and copped from
ircimages.com(which isn’t Family Friendly®).
But it’s not something you see daily.
