Cody-Yellowstone Road-1926

I found this lot of snaps laying about one day-I bought these from a hippie friend who had a thing for old books and paper back around 1992. Well, I found them, and natch, I scanned them all in, so you can see them, too. These are shots along what is now US 14, US 16 and US 20 between Cody and Yellowstone Park in Wyoming. They’re prolly out of sequence. The ‘Shoshone Reservoir’ noted here is now known as the Buffalo Bill Reservoir(appropriate, since he was a homie). A. G Lucier of Powell, Wyoming(sadly, information on him is pretty sparse) knew where all the good shots were, and he whipped out the old brownie, and bunged off a lot of copies to sell in the dime store for the turistas-which is better than the lot of us are managing, since the EAST COAST HIVE MIND isn’t making any money. Well, that's how that goes, then, doesn’t it.

	Two road shots. Not a high standard of standardness, then, eh?

	Spiral Bridge in Sylvan Pass. Also known as the ‘Corkscrew’ This was a hip thing in the 1920’s A quick and dirty way to gain a few feet in elevation.
	Arches on Cody Road. Guess it's cheaper than a rock cut, then, innit?
	Chimney Rock. I saw Santa Clause hangin’ out here drinking Chocolate Malted Falcons and giving away free High Schools.
	Garden of the Goops. The Gods were booked elsewhere at the time.
	Henry Ford, Sure, why not? Look at the top center of the snap.
	The Laughing Pig. What’s he laughing at? You, of course.
	Mister Punch. Mrs Judy didn’t like Northern Wyoming. She was last seen in Detroit.
	The Turtle. Before teenagers, mütants or ninjas.
