All sorts of complicated and fun numbering for what will be
IH 130(AR 245) and IH 49(AR 549).
Signage at a freeway entrance.
More HOT Freeway-like action, here at j2.
Because we can, here we are going in the oppsite direction,
approaching the AR 549 junction. The actual direction is east.
Same area as the above, Heading west.
AR 245 turns into TX 151 about a mile from here.
Entering the freeway at US 71, heading west.
This is a braid with j1, and you can choose between AR 245 ir AR 549.
Further on entering the AR 549 south freeway.
Eastbound on AR 245, passing near the same area.
US 71 is j2, but they forgot the plate.
Advance warning of the AR 245 junction on AR 549 northbound.
Just in case you miss it-j28 on AR 549 is for US 71.
Heading north towards the IH 30 on AR 245.
This is the east leg of the half-orbital.
Level junction on AR 245 at 19th Street in Texarkana.
And junction signage at the none-too-glorious east
END of AR 245
This doesn’t exist yet, according to maps.
This is the current END of AR 549 southbound,
South of Fouke, where a swamp monster(rilly a renegade Moose) lives.
And of course, here we are,
going the opposite way.

Here’s the AR 549 j4 on-slip proper.
US 71 and US 371 split here in Coushatta, LA,
south of Bossier City.
They run concurrent north of here for a couple of miles.
And here’s that split, now, heading southbound.
This is weird, it's kind of hard to place exactly, using a map.
This is a map of the area.
See if YOU can figure out what direction this is.
US 71 and LA 480 don't have a junction.
Sort of close is the split of Business LA 6
and LA 6 in Natchitoches.
This is olde, too, cos it was around when I was.
Just north of Shreveport, US 71/LA 1 meet LA 3094, Hearne Avenue.
When I was living in Shreveport, I always wondered why this wasn’t
an extension of US 171(which ENDS at IH 20),
which would have made sense.
Now to Central Shreveport, LA, where southbound US 71 and LA 1
Approach the IH 20.
A block south of the above, the street splits,
passing over a railway on a dual viaduct.
This condition also existed in the late ’70’s,
when I was hanging out in the area, selling pillows.
And US 71 joins the IH 20, with LA 1 continuing south.
In my day this was the only directional action in town!
After turning onto the freeway,
here we are heading toward the Red River
and Bossier City.
And south on the IH 49-Here's LA 119 at j119, no less.
Back to Shreveport, and the western junction
of the Shreveport Orbital-IH 220 and LA 3132 with IH 20.
For those who wonder, LA 3132 has always been LA 3132.
Apparently the route was never going to be an interstate.
I don’t know about the southeast leg of the orbital;
Connections were graded on the IH 20 at IH 220 east, but nothing came of it.
IH 49 meets LA 526 going northbound.
This may still be known locally as Flournoy-Lucas Road.
The “Industrial Expressway” upgrade was done
in connection with the LA 3132 construction.
This road was a narrow two-lane subject to serious traffic problems
IH 49 meets the LA 3132 orbital, heading northbound.
Ascending the stack junction at IH 49 and LA 3132.
Entering LA 3132 westbound from the IH 49 stack junction.
The road overhead is Saint Vincent Avenue.
Stax are rare in LA, I think this is one of two-
the other being IH 110 and Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.
Aloha is a hamlet just Northwest of Alexandria, LA on US 71.
I’m sure you saw THIS one coming.
Of course, the real reason we’re here is for
abandoned bridge and highway goodness.
If I don't miss my guess,
this is a section of US 71 southeast of Aloha,
crossing the Bayou Grappe.
Here's a map of the area.
Here’s a set of Parish Highway sines off the IH 49.
“Do these numbers make me look FAT?”
On to Teneha, TX at the BEGINNING of US 96.
This is new to me. This junction was once located in the
center of town, and had a blinker.
Now it's all freeway-licious n’at.
Sometimes you just can’t beat reality for a laugh.
Not only do you have a wrong-way multiplex;
the numbers are also consecutive.
Incidentally, the direction is really east.
This is 2 miles west of Maud, TX.
What a bargain! Near Garrison, TX.
In Nacogdoches, TX, Business gets down to Business.
This used to be mainline US 59 with traffic encouraged
to use the LOOP 224 ring road. Guess that didn’t get it...
It’s Xmas all year when TX 8 and TX 11 meet in Linden!
Various TX junction sines.
The first is a newer stylee for Farm and Ranch Roads
That resembles the highway shield. It looks cool.
The second is for a junction just south of Linden, TX on US 59.
You can see a FM 125 junction sine in the distance.
And last is the boring, nearly mAss stylee typically used.
This could be a city signal installation anywhere in NY.
but it’s in Lufkin, TX.
Red arrows are as rare in TX as they are in PA.
Similar in design to the Farm Road signs,
are the Recreation Road signs (in brown as opposed to black).
R 255 intersects US 69 a few miles north of Colmesneil, TX.

“R”? AHHR! It's a Pirate road, Matey!
ooooOOOooo. Nag sines inna VMS stylee.
The speed sine reminds ya to slow the spork down,
and the gantry warns of a red light ahead.
Just in case you can’t be bothered to czech these things yrself.
These are in Marshall, TX.
Another thing TX shares w/PA-
Gacky, Yucky Transport Lite sines.
This is another ring road deal, dating from my time, at least.
