A quick photoshoot and bit of Interstate clinchage on the way back from Buffalo
Turn off the poop-up killa, another darng poop-up page.
RED means a poop-up link, too.

Coming up to IH 890 from NY 5S
Same as above-Merging into IH 890;
NY 5 splits from the freeway ahead.
Coming up on the GE plant. There are about 4 exits here;
all with all sorts of tricky C-D and feeder road stoof.
You can see the plant in this shot.
Pretty huge, ain't it?
Further down the road, you have more specific directions.
This is an “A-B-C” junction because
cardinal directions don't really apply.
On a viaduct that crosses railway lines east of the GE plant;
at JN 5 eastbound, here.
Butterfly gantries are quite rare in NY.
Leaving the viaduct, now heading to junction 6.
A couple of typical overpasses between JNs 5 and 6.
Craig Street and Michigan Avenue respectively.
You can look westbound near this point Here.
The junction with NY 7 East at JN 7
(neat how that works out, eh?)
One alternate east-west route to the Thruway-if you don't
mind a gazillion traffic lights from here to the Northway.
NY 7 runs concurrently with IH 890 from here.
Between JNs 7 and 8.
You're actually heading south;
and on a wrong-way multiplex of IH 890 east and NY 7 west.
Don't blame me if weird stoof happens, okay?
The Box Gantry is slowly taking over in NY.
This is a new gantry with old signs.
Here's the old gantry.
Also note the Thruway blazer on the gantry sine.
You'll only see this in Dictrict(erm) REGION 1.
Another “A-B” junction.
Again, cardinal directions can't be applied.
Also, hiding here is the Albany-Schenectady county line-
a few feet ahead-just behind the EXIT 9 sine in the distance, as it happens.
Note the junction plate for JN 9-on the left. Oops.
And we bid a fond farewell to IH 890 and rejoin the Thruway.
