The older sign will be replaced in 2k4.
This is the only guide sign with a County Shield in Sullivan County.

Old NY 17 leads to a dead end at the left.
That van at the end of the road has been there practically forever.

This time we have an old button-copy sign with a proper shield.
This snap is historic as most of the rock formation
at the right has been removed.

Oh, Ok, It's IH 84 eastbound approaching the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
Usually the VMS says something pithy,
But this day it was off.

US 9 junction on IH 84 eastbound.
The signage is NYSDOT, not Thruway(NYSTA).
You get a plethora of turn lanes at this junction,
As well as signalized merges on US 9.
US 9 heading south to Peekskill.
This is near Dutchess Mall.
A dread mall(it's linked above).
this dual carriageway doesn't last.
US 9 Southbound in Putnam County between Fishkill and Peekskill.
The Highland Avenue “exit” off US 9 NW of Peekskill.
US 9 Southbound leaves to the right,
US 9 Northbound crosses overhead.
The same junction,in the reverse direction.
To join US 9, you continue ahead.
Oregon Road in the Town of Cortlandt.
Advance warning of signals on Oregon Road.
Pity the beacon doesn't work.
Look closely at this sequence of signals.
The junction is Oregon Road(turning left)
Red Mill Road(straight on)
and Westbrook Drive(Turning right.)
The red signal in the foreground is nearly always lit.
NY municipalities could give a fig for the MUTCD.

A nice Combo of CA and Southern style.
Approaching JN 59 on the IH 24, eastbound.
Something you'll NEVER see in NY.
They'd put up a Bend sign and be done with it.
Nice clear gore area here-There's no EXIT sign!
Note the small box half-gantry-also not seen in NY.
Though you are officially “Eastbound” here on the IH 24,
You're actually headed south-southeast.
