2 photos here from the south side of Waldron, AR.
The first shows the approaching junction of US 71B and a trailblazer for AR 250.
In the second photo, 250 becomes the highway and 71B the trailblazer.

2 County Road markers along US 412 west of Tontitown.
Besides the odd shaped arrows you'll notice that the signs are 2 slightly different styles.
The one at the bottom is the standard marker posted by the Washington County Road
Department (complete with stick-on numbers), while the one at the top is
slightly more professional looking... perhaps made in the AHTD Sign Shop?

A simple “right turn” and “up” arrow plate would suffice here....

Guide sign for AR 391 a few miles east of Little Rock along the IH 40.
In the last few years, AHTD had been replacing old worn guide signs.
Yet, this almost looks like an older sign with the smaller numbers inside a 2d AR shield.
Square County Road marker for Carroll County 306 along US 62 east of Berryville.

US 59 / 71 just east of Mena at AR 88. 88 runs along 59/71 for several miles
before turning west towards Whilhelmina State Park.
So what is that AR 8 sign doing there?
Note the number is also off-center.

Shrinky-dink US 380 sign in Roswell, NM...
(maybe it was left in the wash too long?)
Old bridge along old US 75 south of Bixby.
Can YOU get enough of these? I know *I* cant :)
A “4-Way Stop Ahead” along County Rd 27 near Farmington, AR
Rogers AR along Business 71 August 2002

Yes, technically, you ARE going west but 71B should be signed as NORTH!
The signs have since been fixed which included the removal of 62B
since it was truncated to about 1/4 mile east of here
.

4way Stop at the junction of US 59 and US 271 near Poteau, OK.
An oversized STOP sign, oversized (Series D) font, and orange flags...
you think they're trying to get people's attention? ;)
naaah.

Taken at the junction of I-540, Spur AR 112 and AR 16 in west Fayetteville.
Looks like they ran out of blue signs ;).
Also notice the two slightly different I-540 signs .
Ah, the joy of fillum :) Good snap just the same.
Also look *closely* at the mast-arm mounted street sine.

Intersection of OK 16 and Alternate US 75 just of Bixby.
You're facing east in this photo,
not that you can tell with the directional signs missing.
“END” plates for ALT US 75 might be helpful.....

Perfectly good photo of a perfectly good sign...
in the perfectly wrong location.

This should be west US 270, just west of the IH 530 near Pine Bluff.
Spur 365 S begins on the east side of the IH 530 .

Phaze II of “Lumpy Gravy”
At the IH 530 Pine Bluff, AR:

That should be To *US* 65B and West *US* 270. East 270 should be AR 365S

Guide sign for Bypass US 271 and US 70 just south of Hugo, OK.
Technically, it IS a bypass, but it's actually marked as “mainline” 271/70.
I dig the “TO Turn Pike” panel and the baby arrow.
County Road 26 at I-540 just west of Greenland, AR.
AHTD doesn't normally sign county roads along the interstates.
A few months after this photo was taken, the county road sign was removed.
Lousy Bums :P
An old black/yellow stop sign outside an antique shop at Lake Village, AR.
I asked about buying it, but was told it wasn't for sale.
6 months later, it was gone... they had sold it!

Lousy Bums :P
I saw a covered-over specimen in Somerset, PA:
Less the buttons, sadly.
Taken along Old Highway 71 near Saginaw, MO.
You rarely see any “Begin” Speed Limit signs anymore.
This is also a stamped steel sign.
The curve sign it's bolted on is newer....
Taken along “Scenic” OK 10 just south of Kansas, OK.
This is the only road I've seen “Scenic” signs on except for Alt US 412

An old gantry along the IH 435 near Kansas City.
MO 350 was once US 50 and if you look closely,
you can see ghost images of the former highway shields.

Classic MO stylee here.

Older 2-digit style sign blank for a 3-digit Arkansas State Highway number
east of Garfield near Lost Bridge Park.
This photo was taken in 2000. The sign was replaced in 2002.
Older style street sign at the corner of Main and Logan in Republic, MO.
Most of the signs in town are the newer white on green reflective signs,
but there are a few of these black/white signs left in the older section of town.

(the large snap gives two views of the sign)
Tulsa, OK, approaching the Broken Arrow Expressway looking south.
two junction assemblies for US 64 and OK 51.
A block south of the top photo, there are older shields for US 64.and OK 51.
If you look really closely, you can
see these signs are more weathered-including rust stains from the sign bolts
An old sign for Signals Ahead along old Hwy 66 in downtown Miami, OK
Taken along US 278 NW of Nashville, AR

Note the narrow font and off-center numbers in the first photo.
This is the sign style used for a Business Route, but it's NOT a Business Route.

A normal looking US 278 sign taken a couple miles west of the first one.
This looks like a fairly old sign, but I can't be sure.
(The Australian cousin to this fella can be found on my NSW signs page)
Taken along Greenwood Ave just north of Vermont St in Blue Island, IL
Another old sign, again along Greenwood Ave in Blue Island, IL

Note the legend across the bottom: “Chicago Motor Club”

Looking south on the IH 540 feeder road at JN 62.
(Cool how the junction and US Highway match, eh?)
US 62 leaves the IH 540 at this point. “Reappears”, rather:
Since there are no US 62 signs on the IH 540 mainline; even though it follows
the IH 540 between JNS 62 and 86(24 miles).
THEY are everywhere. Here's one of those darng Space Aliems
trying to pass as a retro streetlight in Roswell, NM in 2000.
Good thing Agent Backlin was paying attention and caught the bugger with his eyes open:
exposing yet another facet of the vast Space Aliem/Marsupial Conspiracy.
A double good double deal here, near Roswell, NM
A double bend with a railway crossing in the middle.
I dig the sign, it makes the situation rather clear-
why it wasn't posted on the flashing beacon mast evades me, tho.
About 15 miles west of the Texas-New Mexico line on the IH 40 here.
Gotta dig that “
Historic 66” sine. It puts me in mind of the classic Phillps 66 logo.
Imagine Count Dracula in overalls and a feed cap.
