An IBM WorkPad running TimeBob

Here are a few favorite program thingys I've managed to acquire over time.
You could scour the freeware sites for hours for em, but why go through all that?
This page was last updated on 26th February 2k6.
The Palm programs work on OS's 3.0 thru 5+ unless otherwise indicated. These have been confirmed to work on the following:

Kyrocera 6035(OS 3.5),
Kyrocera 7135 and Sony Clie PEG-20(OS 4.1)
Palm Tungstens T/T2; T5 and LIFE Drive(rilly, who thought of that name?)
Some apps may require installation into main RAM
For grins and giggles, I've also tried some of this stuff on an IBM Work Pad(Palm V).
The Pocket PC programs work for sure on a Toshiba 405 and an Audiovox XV 6600.
Anything else, well, you take yr chances, doncha? I'm not responsible if you spørk yr stoof up. BACK UP yr stoof beforehand!

TOILET(Windoze-all versions)*:
Originally a Win95 program, this little gem turns yer "Recycle Bin" into a biffy.
You’ll need to manually configure it. XP’s restore will kill it altogether if you don't set a restore point after you set it up.

Rockbox! an open-source firmware replacement for many popular MP3 players, including the iPod.
Rockbox will actually allow you to have drive-letter access to your player under Windows(Full media folder access under Linux),
so you can organize and manage your files without any third party software.
No more gloppy I Tunes. It comes with a whole host of extra little programmes, like games and suchlike-including a Game Boy emulator.
There are multiple 'skins' available, and if yr 1337 enough, you can make yr own.
It’s in development, but I've been using it with my iPod for months now, and I wouln't go back to the Crapple firmware if ya paid me.
AutoDST: Sets the clock for DST in your Palm.
Not necessary for OS 5
. Be sure to install BOTH files.
Linux for Palm: I’ll wager didn’t know yr Palm® was a REAL computer, didja? It can run a small version of Linux quite nicely.
BIG CLOCK 2.83: The best free clock for the Palm pilot. You get 4 alarms, 4 timers and a gob of configuration options. You can screw around with the colors, sounds, etc. *Doesn't* support MIDI sounds, sorry.
FILEZ: The best file manager for Palm devices. Reads your card, your ROM, anything on your Palm Pilot-including the internal memory on T-5's. The LIFE Drive Manager doesn't manage main RAM, FileZ does-that comes in handy should you want to move something from the drive to main RAM. Has nifty battery/memory graphs. You can even severely jte yr Palm if you like. Updated Version 6.2 includes support for T3's, a better graph for T5's(it looks broke, it's not-It's showing, RAM, Internal Card and SD card at the same time). Also includes a "CLOSE" button now.
Strip Clock: A strange analogue/digital clock combo. The time cruises by on two strips that can be zoomed in and out at will. It's rilly spiffy®. Doeesn't work on T5's all too well, LIFE Drive is okay w/it, tho.
Microfluxx: A card game that looks goofy and silly at the start, but is actually quite tricky and if you're not paying attention, the Palm will wax you every time.
Quick Clock: A nice analogue clock in a great huge letter “Q”. Looks nice on the desktop.
Time Calc: This little devil not only gets Tierra Del Fuego, bucko, but you can even time the Satellite(really!)
Swatch: Dig it. Metric Time.
Time Add: An actual time calculator.
Sidereal Clock: Interesting clock that shows a number of different time measurements, including the actual mean solar time for your longitude. Includes a red-on-black display option.
Inch to Decimal convertor: Just that.
TC Assist: A good program for hourly wage slaves. This calculates your daily hours including lunch breaks, and includes an alarm function that tells you when it's time to knock off. I use this all the time.
Time Copy(.exe): this program allows you to synch time between your Palm and your PC.
It requires installation on both machines. Not necessary for Cell Phones, obviously.

Victor: For OS 3.5 only. Sort of a defrag program.

SolPoker: Another card game. This time you have to build a good poker hand in each of five ranks. Harder than it looks.

Neko: A nice time waster. Have Neko the Kitty chase a birdie, fishie or mousie around your screen!
Time Bob. Courtesy of the Church of the Subgenius® If you're fast enough, you can see his eyes!
Has a glitch that crashes on the original Tungsten, works fine on 5.2, tho.
Mars Clock: You need this. Why? Because EVERYBODY needs to know the time on Mars.
YDay: A Julian date calculator.

Time Sheet: Like TC Assist above,
except it keeps a running total of hours worked
and overtime for up to a year, including lunch breaks and that.
You can also specify what you are doing at a given time.
Handy for tracking a second job or anything else you care to.

SumTimes: Another time calculator. Joy. Well I like playing with these things, so NERR.
Tower Clock. Somebody finally did it: Here's a program that puts an hourly chime on your Palm.
There is, of course, a catch. It's only for OS 5+. The chimes are .wav files. This works even if the Palm is switched off, making it actually useful.
You get Big Ben or Church bells. You could prolly record your own, and the developer is looking
for more bell sounds. The .zip file contains both English and German files.
Mapopolis: Okay this is a cheat, Mapopolis Navigator is free. The maps are not.
They are available for a 7 day trial; and Mapopolis includes a map of Fredericksburg, VA as a sample.
BUT if you plan spending money on maps for your Palm, or Pocket PC,
The next best program(Delorme Street Atlas 2k4) costs just as much, and works half as well.
Most Mapopolis maps are updated every 6 months, a year sub to the service allows unlimited downloads.
You get a lot of maps, or you can buy them on CD and SD card(Palm only).
I use this in my work daily. It's a crucial tool.
I did a comparison between some map programs for pocket devices here, so you can see for yourself.
One of the few things I would ever recommend you buy if you need it.
This has updated to 2.35. There is a special install for Tungsten 3's ONLY.
Tungsten 5's can use the regular program.
Life Drive can store the program in RAM, but Mapopolis instructs you to store the maps on an SD card.
Duco: Say you're going to ancient Rome. Well, you'll need this handy little calculator.
You're not? That's okay, then you can just hang out and waste time. Plug in all those
Roman Numerals on old movies and stuff, and find out what year they actually did them.
You don't really need this, but what the hey.
Porta Monkey: Don't download this unless you have a sense of humor.
Quasi-adult, but kids will prolly dig the heck out of it. The Monkey is *very* realistic.
There's also a pop-culture joke in the program. Betcha you'll NEVER guess it.
Misfortune Cookie is a program that provides rude, obnoxious,
and downright mean “fortunes” to the user.
That says it pretty much. Good for a laugh, them, ain't it.
Voodoo Doll: Take out your frustrations on others in an adult and reasonable fashion.
Zgrab is a free screenshot utility for the Palm. That's where THIS(and all other new shots) came from. It saves images in the .pcx format, so you'll need The Gimp to open and manipulate the files.
Say yr in Sydney, and ya just don't understand what the mates are on about. No worries! AuSlang will set you straight. *ADULT LANGUAGE*.That being said, some of the translations of the ruder stuff are pretty deadpan. It's good for a laugh.
Converter 2.2 is a handy-dandy tool for figuring all sorts of conversions-Including Roman Numerals! You might need this.
Here's a classic. Sun Illuminated Earth(catchy title, eh?) showes where daylight is and where it ain't. This is an OLD program, bit it still works.
Here's a Palm FTP client: Now the Schnäuzers can just wi-fi in these pages! ARF!
This is either fun or a bummer. Depends on yr perspective. Inflation Calculator calculates just how much inflation is ripping you off. The result seen here is what 8 dollars in 1966 would be worth today(2K6).

Big Bag o programs: Download this Phile, and install the programs directly via Hot Sync. It includes the following:

Ask President Bush: Magic 8-ball type program featuring the
Pretend Prez and his quotable quotes to assist you in your prognostication.
ATool : A simple collection of useful tools for your Palm, including a reset, Time Calculator, and Coin toss-NOT FOR OS 5!
Blocks: Tetris Clone. Looks better in color.
Charon Clock: Shows how many seconds you have left to live.
Daycount: Date calculator.
English Clock: What time is it? Why it's a minute past eight, and this clock will tell you exactly that in exactly that style.
Hell Clock: Watch the tormented souls of the Darned rise from the grave as you view the time,
and if you like, the number of days left to Halllowe'en. OS 5.2 Gives you little bonus messages(as you can see). OS 5.4 isn't as much fun.
WARNING: Does not work correctly under some OS 5+ color schemes.
Hex Calc: Hexadecimal/32-bit converter.
Handy for converting those internet color values into RGB numbers.
Inch Calc: Inches and Feet calculator. Can also function as a regular calculator.
You look like you can use a shave. So here's McRazor.
On Palms(OS 4+) it vibrates and buzzes for added realism.

On T-5's,Clies, and the LIFE Drive it just buzzes, sorry. Dunno about Visors/Treos.
TikTok: An excellent stopwatch/timer program with 24 different stopwatches.
Useful if you time races and such.
I use it to monitor my stop vs driving times. Also has alarms.
Watchix: Another analogue clock program.
This one displays date and time; "ticks"(not always audible);
and can be "skinned" with a picture of your choice(.bmp format).
YAUC: Oodles of conversions here. Not too flashy, but gets the job done.
Crashes on Tungsten 5's and Life Drive. Works on the Treo 700P
POCKET PC FREEBIES! A few spiffy® things I've found lying about.
You take yr chances with this lot. I know they work on Toshiba machines,
The Audiovox XV6600 also runs this lot.
When you install you'll get a whine from winblows that says yr software is too old. Ignore it.
I feel for you if you have an IPAQ or HP.
ARM Chips ONLY here, sorry. Some of these programs put extra files on your 'puter. Sorry again.
Welcome to the joy that is Micro$haft.

A Comrade Yämamøto Experience Exclusive!
The HP 35: Nostalgic? Miss yr old HP 35 Scientific calculator? Remember when the letters “HP” didn't stand for a disaster?
Well, here ya go bucko, an actual functional virtual HP 35! The surface is nubbly even. If you click the lower right corner, you even get an image of the back of the calculator! For the Youth, this is what we USED to make in this country before Ronny Ray-gun and pals sent all of our industry overseas. :P
You can't find this anyplace else on the web. The link from Freeware PPC goes nowhere.
This is a PPC .exe file that requires MANUAL installation!(see below)
Pocket Breitling: Works on Toshibas and on IPAQ's running Pocket PC 2k2+ for sure.

On the latest 2k3 pocket pal, you NEED this VB runtime file.
Install the program first, Then install the runtime. Has a bug that sometimes crashes the program when left running on an Audiovox XV6600. No big deal, close and re-open the program.
Yep, another Virtual toy that looks good on the shelf. It has chimes and alarms, but those DON'T work
on a Toshiba 405. They also don't work when the machine is off.
You can switch skins, and you get all the functionality of the real watch that most of us
will never be able to afford.
IGT Editor: Hey, a damn near useful app here, kids! An HTML editor for yr Pocket PC!
You can edit those pages on the road and review/upload them too! HA!
After WRITING those web pages, upload em! NeoFTP is a Windows whatever OS it is this week FTP Client.
You can do all yr conversions with yr windoze jüte with Converter CE! Why should Palm PPL have all the fun?
Neko sn33ks over to PPC! And she brought her chums! Natch, in this screenshot, kitty's sleepin. Just like real kitties!
Here's a desk clock type app with a little twist. Koseiji is a simple analog clock for Local Time, UT Time and Sidereal Time and a digital clock for Sidereal Time. Koseiji is Japanese for Sidereal Time.
Here's another time waster. This Neu Silly Clock can be dragged all round the screen and the numbers go all over. You can change the font and make it totally unreadable, if you like.
This is a manual install again(see below....)
Here is the best Bible program available for any pocket platform, period. The plus? It's absolutely free! You can download various versions of the Bible, dictionaries, devotional guides, etc. Did I mention it was free? When looking at your Bible, you can highlight yr fave passages, compare versions, and have all sorts of fun searching for stuff. The functionality of this program is equal to something you'd pay $ for. But...It's free! So get thee behind me and jump to the Pocket E-Sword Website. I'm not particularly religious, mind you, but I like to have the Bible around for reference; and Rick Meyers did a LOT of work coding this, and asks for nothing in return, which is respectable.

Battery Watch: Does just what it says. Mainly manifests itself as a system tray icon.
Stop Time: “Big Clock” for the Pocket PC, basically, with a few additional functions,
including a notepad, and flashlight, and a ginchy timer function.
This may have some problems w/alarms not functioning Under PPC 2K3,
It works on a Toshiba 405 as well as my Audiovox VX 6600.
Jonathan Sachs has other useful programs that you can get at his website.
Including bugfixes for Stop Time.
Date Calculator. Yep. That's what it is, and that's what it does. It also installs on yr PC.
INSTALLING .exe files manually on yr PPC:
The Hewlett Packard Calculator and Neu Silly Clock are .exe files that can be dropped right on yr PPC and run directly. THEY WILL NOT RUN on a regular PC. Here's what ya do: D/L the files, and open up your PPC in My Computer. Go to /My Device/Program Files and park the .exe files there. Create a shortcut and cut that(CTRL+X); then navigate to /My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs and paste(CTRL+V) your shortcut there. If you do this right, you'll end up with icons in your normal Programs menu(the pull down when you hit the Windoze Icon in the upper left corner.) Use rename to get rid of "shortcut to... .exe", so you'll look rilly 1337.
Just in case ya need em: Here's Pictures!
This bit is for the Linux crowd.
If you can use True Type fonts, D/L this pup and unzip it to yr system fonts folder.
My web pages will suddenly look better!
I recommend 7zip for yr file unzipping needs.
It's free, fast and will handle all archive types.
It also squishes stoof up better then most archiving programmes.
Linux users already have Ark or File Roller(for you Gnome Hippies).

If you have any additions, email me.
