US 9W bridge replacement Mar 2008 to ?
27th April 08

Crushed concrete and some of the construction equipment.

A variety of things to be found between the bridge and White Street.

Same as the first snap, different angle. The little stream at left has been covered over through the works area, and has been channelised by Jersey barriers. Hey a flow is a flow, eh? We'll have to see if it's restored after the works finish

Box beam rail that was taken up from US 9W.

A concrete form. Perhaps for a pier.

Thought HB Elkins might appreciate this.

Rebar and guiderail.

A long shot looking north from American Legion Park at the junction of US 9W amd US 44-NY 55.

A relatively new storm drain, put in when US 9W had a center turn lane added a couple of years ago. From the look of things, they aim to widen this yet again.

The new JUNCTION US 44-NY 55 sine that was also part of the US 9W widening of a couple of years ago. This will eventually be put back in place. Beyond that is more bridge railing.

Closeup of the SINE! showing how it's actually 3 panels joined together.

More bridge railing and some rebar spaghetti.

Hydraulic hammer attachment used to break up the concrete of the bridge. I've sen these in action. It's pretty cool.

Concrete base for the US 44-NY 55 junction sign, and at right-the sign post. When it's all upright, bolts hold the two together.

The southern bridge approach.

The west half of the highway atop the bridge approach.

I'm honestly not sure what they're doing here, though I'm sure it will be revealed in the fullnes of time.

Great huge rods driven into the rock. Ew. That's nearly cheap pr0n. I'm guessing these will be anchors for a future wall.

New and old concrete at the southern abutment of the bridge.

A look at the southern concrete construction. The exposed rebar makes me wonder if they mean to make the new briddge higher than the old.

Looking under the old bridge towards White Street and the Hudson Valley Fruit Juice Factory(no longer active).

And we come full circle with this side snap of the concrete form and rebar.
